Thank you for writing. I was touched by your story and how I was able to help you live a better life, one free of the nightmare of dialysis. While I have never experienced it personally, my best friend had been battling with kidney disease for years. Since he had no family, I spent all my free time (which isn’t much since I own a small restaurant) with him over the last few years, much of that time while he was hooked up to the hemodialysis machines. I actually joined the kidney donor registry hoping I’d be a match for him; unfortunately, I wasn’t. After he passed away, I thought of taking my name off the list and actually did for a while. I then realized it was the best thing I could do to honor his memory. (BTW, his name was Mark). So a year later, I once again added my name to the list. I was matched with you within days, perhaps it was fate, I’m not sure, but I felt really good about my decision.

My surgery and recovery went without a hitch and in all actuality, although it hurt the first few days, it wasn’t bad at all, so no worries there. Like you, my life has been put on hold for quite a few years. I will always cherish the time I spent with Mark, but I’m ready to live my life to the fullest once again. I wish you all the best in your recovery. By the way, I couldn’t help but notice your uncommon name. I knew, or rather met, a Braylon once. Nice name.
